PANEL DISCUSSIONS

eco and EuroCloud are organizing two panel discussions on Women in Technology and the EU-US Privacy Shield

  1. Why Women-In-Tech should be inclusive?
There is a major lack of female specialists in the Internet industry, with only around 10 to 20 percent of applicants for programmer and IT expert positions being women. This is really regrettable, because the Internet industry offers great career opportunities for women. The proportion of female applications has risen slightly in recent years, but in no way meets the demand that is out there. To delve into this topic, join our Panel Discussion at 2:45pm in Ballsaal Berlin, where Melanie Buck, Chief of Staff of Go Daddy, alongside Yvonne Bernard, Head of Product Management Hornetsecurity, will present what they are doing with regards to WIT. Afterwards, we’d like to invite you to network in a relaxed environment at the bar at 5:00 pm.

  1. Transatlantic Dialogue – The Future of EU-US Privacy Shield
EU-US Privacy Shield governs the protection of personal data transferred from a member state of the European Union to the United States. For the Internet economy on both sides of the Atlantic, a consensual and long-term data protection regime is the basis for any business model in which personal data is stored and processed across borders. However, the EU-US Privacy Shield has been criticized since its launch in 2016. In the United States, an alternative model to the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is being discussed. The most relevant associations of the Internet Industry in Europe and the United States, eco and i2Coalition, and both have been leaders in making sure that digital trade is protected for their member companies. Their goals have been long-term legal certainty for companies, and effective regulation for the protection of personal data. Join both organizations in a discussion of how changes in privacy law are likely to affect the future of transtlatic digital trade.
