Autonomous and connected driving will reach a new phase in 2026: pilot projects will be scaled up, software-defined vehicles will go into operation, and regulatory requirements will become binding. This will shift the industry's focus away from pure innovation and toward long-term operability, software updates, and safety throughout the entire vehicle lifecycle.

The focus will be on software lifecycle management:

  • How can vehicle software remain secure, updatable, and eligible for approval over a period of 10–15 years?

  • What technical, organizational, and regulatory requirements are necessary to operate autonomous driving functions responsibly in real-world conditions?

The webinar brings together three complementary perspectives:

  • T-Systems: shows how software lifecycle management, OTA updates, and operating models for connected vehicles can be implemented in practice.
  • VDA: highlights the wide range of applications for autonomous mobility and outlines why, despite the technology being well established, the business case, regulatory approval, and customer acceptance will determine market success.
  • DE-CIX: illustrates why resilient networks, data locality, and interconnection are crucial for the operation and scaling of autonomous mobility applications.
