On the occasion of today’s launch of an EU cloud by Amazon Web Services (AWS), eco Managing Director Alexander Rabe states:
“A high-performance ecosystem of digital infrastructures is a crucial competitive factor for Europe as a business location.
“We know that, as things stand today, demand for data centres in Germany alone will exceed planned capacities by about three times by 2030. That is why every building block is important in supporting the digital transformation in Germany. The so-called spillover effects of data centres – that is, the added value generated in other industries thanks to cloud and data centre infrastructures – are estimated to amount to around EUR 300 billion as of 2025.
“This means that every investment in the digital infrastructure ecosystem in Germany contributes to the competitiveness of the German economy in an international context. The AWS European Sovereign Cloud offering thus provides another relevant building block for digital sovereignty and digital performance in Germany as a location.”
