AI: As part of the European AI in Science Summit, the European Commission has launched the Resource for Artificial Intelligence Science in Europe (RAISE) on the agenda. RAISE is a virtual European institute that pools and coordinates essential AI resources such as computing power, data, talent and research funding.
Cybersecurity: The European Commission and Member States tested their joint response to cybersecurity crises as part of the “Blueprint Operational Level Exercise” (BlueOLEx). This involved scenario-based exercises, discussions on strategic partnerships, and refined incident response methodologies.
AI: Work has begun on the seven-month process of developing a code of practice for labelling AI-generated content. The voluntary instrument is intended to help providers of generative AI systems comply with the transparency requirements of the AI Act, which will become applicable in August 2026.
Child Safety Online: The EU, UK and Australia want to work together to improve the safety of children’s online experiences and have published a joint communication.
GDPR: Politico and Euractiv report on planned changes to the GDPR in favour of AI.
Patent law: The European Parliament’s Legal Affairs Committee (JURI) has voted to go ahead and sue the European Commission by withdrawing a proposal to regulate standard essential patents. The patents, for 4G and 5G Internet networks used in mobile phones and connected cars, have long been controversial.

The ruling in the Inteligo Media case (C-654/23) is scheduled for Thursday, 13 November 2025. In this preliminary ruling request from the Curtea de Apel BucureĹźti (Romania), the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) will decide on issues concerning Article 13 of the ePrivacy Directive and Article 6 of the GDPR in connection with the sending of newsletters.
