Today, eco Managing Director Alexander Rabe was once again nominated by a majority vote of the German Bundestag as a member of the Advisory Board of the Digital Services Coordinator (DSC) at the Federal Network Agency. The official appointment will subsequently be made by the Federal Government.
As the national coordinator for digital services, the DSC at the Federal Network Agency is responsible for enforcing the Digital Services Act (DSA) and oversees digital service providers and online platforms. The DSC Advisory Board acts as an expert advisory body and issues recommendations.
eco Managing Director Alexander Rabe comments:
“I am very pleased about the renewed confidence that the German Bundestag has expressed in me and in the work of eco – Association of the Internet Industry with this vote.
The DSC plays an important role in ensuring that people can use the Internet safely and freely, and that the rules of the DSA are observed. The DSC Advisory Board ensures that this process runs as smoothly as possible: We strengthen cooperation between business, academia, civil society and the relevant authorities – and are already seeing tangible progress in the implementation of the Digital Services Act.
This means that the applicable law for a secure digital environment is being implemented uniformly across Europe. The work of the DSC Advisory Board has shown that the vast majority of companies in Europe are embracing the DSA and adapting their processes accordingly.
This demonstrates that EU regulations can be brought to life and successfully implemented – when business, academia, politics and civil society exchange ideas and work together. At eco, we are proud to contribute to a trustworthy Internet through our membership of the Advisory Board.”
