eco and cyberintelligence.institute: Joining Forces for Greater Cyber Resilience

In times of increasing cyber threats, eco – Association of the Internet Industry and the German cyberintelligence.institute (CII) are sending a clear signal for enhanced IT security: At the Internet Security Days 2025, the two organisations signed a cooperation agreement, sealing an even closer collaboration for the future. With this strategic alliance, both partners are pooling their resources to strengthen the digital resilience of business and society.

The pressure to act is high: the current German federal cybercrime situation report from the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) shows that cyberattacks in Germany continue to increase, while the clearance rate remains low at 32 per cent. In view of the escalating threat situation, eco recommends that companies and organisations consistently treat cyber security as an ongoing task and incorporate security mechanisms from the outset in accordance with the principle of “security by design”. eco has long been calling for IT security to become a top management priority.

The cooperation with the CII marks an important milestone and creates a framework for exchange, knowledge transfer and the development of joint projects. Among other aspects, the cooperation includes the mutual delegation of representatives to expert committees. eco brings the strong network of the Internet industry into the collaboration, while the CII provides impetus with interdisciplinary research and methodological expertise. The result is an alliance between science and business that pursues a clear goal: greater security and resilience in the digital world.
