econnect 2016 – Lessons on Doing Business with Germans
Cologne, 23 June 2016 – “Be well prepared, be on time, back up what you say with facts, try to build trust, do not be offended by the directness of Germans putting the finger into the wound right away” was how Rolf Claessen, patent lawyer and partner at the Freischem law firm, summarized the two days of company visits, presentations and panel discussion on doing business in Germany.
The econnect “Doing Business in Germany” tour 2016 on 22 and 23 June brought international companies together with established German companies and promising start-ups in and around the city of Cologne to explore what is important to know when doing business in the German IT scene.
At four stations over the two days, participants received insights into the German IT and Internet industry, with topics ranging from IT and network security to e-commerce, data center & hosting, domains, and heard from industry specialists, entrepreneurs and lawyers.
In lightning talks, panel discussions and over dinner, the representatives of local and international IT players explored preferences in how many Germans do business, how to function successfully in the German market, and strategies for communicating and networking effectively in Germany.
